Celebrating Earth's Biodiversity One Species at a Time

Lifers Earth is a solely nature‑based social platform dedicated to celebrating biodiversity and building a community that protects the natural world. Explore life on Earth, share your discoveries, learn from experts, and help others see what you see.

We’re just getting started — early adopters are essential. Thanks for your patience as we grow.

What is Lifers Earth?

Lifers Earth is built around a single “source of truth”: our taxonomy database. Everything on the platform connects back to the Tree of Life — from Life to Subspecies.

The goal is simple and lifelong: discover the richness of life on Earth, keep track of what you’ve found, and let that growing list guide you toward what you haven’t found yet.

How it works

Glimpses

Glimpses are short nature videos members can post to share what they’re seeing in the wild. Glimpses are public to members and can be connected to a specific species or a broader taxon.

The Grove

The Grove is where members can make posts and respond to other members’ posts. It’s where trips are planned, IDs are discussed, and discoveries are celebrated together.

Submitting Sightings

Members (including Free members) can submit sightings as photos or videos. AI helps suggest an identification, and then verifiers have the final say on what it is.

Building a LifeList

Your LifeList is available to all members and is designed to grow with you for decades. It tracks the organisms you’ve found — and helps point you toward the species you’ve yet to find.

Earning Pins

Submit sightings of any life on Earth, then wait for verifiers to confirm the identification. Verified sightings count toward your pin progress — and when you hit milestones, you earn pins.

The pins aren’t a game — they’re a symbolic representation of exploration and the incredible species you’ve witnessed along the way.

The scope of life on Earth

Earth’s biodiversity is vast. Below are rough estimates showing described species vs. potential total species. (Numbers vary by source and are best viewed as a scale reference.)
